TEGA+BONIKO
Japanese born, Melbourne based designer, Rioko TEGA’s fascination for beautiful textiles was sparked at her grandparents Kimono and tailoring business, Tailor Tega. It was from them that she learnt the importance of quality, attention to detail and the timeless nature of good design. Rioko developed a range of organic cotton Tabi (toe) socks in 2007 under the name BONIKO, creating experimental collections exploring the concept of free fashion - no size, no season, no gender. Inheriting an eye and craft for tailoring and patternmaking, Rioko is also an experienced CAD patternmaker, drafting patterns for major Australian fashion labels. Since her grandmother Fuku passed in 2014, Rioko’s passion is to keep the spirit of Tailor Tega going, resulting in Rioko starting a new concept of bespoke fashion – unstructured tailoring. Unstructured tailoring focuses on the garments closely relating to people's everyday life, that are not covered by tailors and bespoke dressmakers. With her own idiosyncratic style, Rioko offers an alternative way to relate to your garments, with an emphasis on sustainability, care-ability, and creativity. Since 2015, Rioko has presented her work under the TEGA+BONIKO label on an exhibition basis, presenting thoughtful products for thoughtful individuals.

Geoffrey H Watson
Geoffrey Watson is a Melbourne-based performing artist working with an interdisciplinary focus on dance and costume/wearable art. His dance practice relates to finding an embodied expression of music and rhythm. Being the child of two musicians, Geoffrey grew up with a strong sense that musicality is innate in all aspects of life, and uses dance as a means to investigate a deeper understanding of the body’s potential to manifest this musicality. The connection to design in Geoffrey’s work is to blur the roles of object/subject between costume and moving body – to make the movement concrete and the costume experiential. Geoffrey aims to create a situation in which the costume/visual elements of a performance are inextricably involved in the choreographic aspect.

Developing over a number of years, in response to perpetually changing urban environments, my artwork is process-driven, concentrating on temporary and transient situations; this state of flux in the ‘lifecycle’ of a city, with the constant interplay between construction and dereliction, particularly informs my work. Investigating these concepts through drawing, painting and installation, both in the studio and in site-specific work, using traditional media and found materials to reflect the differing elements of the subject; some applications are precise whilst others are accidental and chaotic, creating a complexity of line and concept to reflect the urban experience.
